Mini Reviews

 The Catcher in the Rye
I was assigned this book for English over the summer. It wasn't a bad book, but it just wasn't something that I would've picked up if it wasn't assigned for me to read.  Rating: 2 out of 5 stars.

.Eve (Eve, #1)
This book is the first in a dystopian trilogy, and is set after a plague wiped out a large portion of the world's population. The main character, Eve, is an orphan and has lived in the same all girls school her whole life, never going beyond the fence that surrounds it. All of the girls at this school have been told they're being prepared to help with the rebuilding of the country, after the plague killed so many, by becoming teachers, scientists, artists, etc. But the night before Eve is supposed to graduate she finds out that what she's been told by her teachers this whole time is a lie, so she escapes into the world outside the fence, despite the many dangers she was told was out there. This book had an interesting plot and I liked most of the characters, as well. It wasn't the most amazing book I've ever read, but it was still pretty good. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

Jinx
This was a book that I randomly picked off the shelf at the library, so I had no idea what it was about when I started reading it. This is a stand alone and the main character's name is Jean, but everyone calls her Jinx because of all the bad luck that happens around her. She is sent to live with her aunt and uncle in New York, but despite the change it seems her bad luck follows her. Jinx causes a lot of problems for her cousin, Tory, who seems to be hiding something, and Jinx soon learns that all the bad things that happen around her are more than just bad luck. I enjoyed the book a lot more than I expected to, although I was very confused about what exactly was going on in the book. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

Once (Eve, #2)
This book was the sequel to Eve. Like the first one it was an interesting story, but the main character, Eve, annoyed me a bit in this book with a lot of her actions which mad it a little harder to like this book as much as I did the first. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

With All My Soul (Soul Screamers, #7)
This is the last book in the Soul Screamers series,  I wasn't sure how the author was going to end this series, there was just so much happening it seemed almost impossible to end it. But, she managed to wrap everything up nicely and I'm pretty satisfied with the ending she gave us. This was a very good series, and I had a lot of fun reading these books. I really recommend you give these books a try if you haven't already, the first book is My Soul to Take. It is a bit weird that there will be no more books in this series to look forward to, but, unfortunately, all things must come to an end at some point. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Valkyrie Rising
When I started this book I wasn't really sure what to expect from it and I had never read anything involving Valkyries before this, so I was a little skeptically going into this book. I was pleasantly surprised with it though. It was really good, the main character's name is Ellie and she goes off with her brother and his friend to visit her grandmother in Norway. While she's there she starts to her rumors of boys going missing, and it doesn't take long for her brother, Graham, to go missing as well. Ellie and her brother's friend, Tuck, decide they need to do everything they can to find Graham and stop whoever is taking the boys. I think that there will be another book but there hasn't been any information given about it, hopefully something will be said about it soon. Rating 4 out of 5 stars.

 Storm (Elemental, #1)
This is the first book in the elemental series. This book switches between the main characters Becca and Chris. These two first meet after Becca stops a couple of guys from beating up Chris. She soon finds out that Chris can control water, while his three brother each control one of the other three elements, and as awesome as their powers are, knowing about this secret puts both Becca's and the boys lives in danger. I was a bit skeptical when I started it, but I found that I really liked this book. I loved most of the characters and the story was interesting. Rating:4 out of 5 stars.

Loki's Wolves (The Blackwell Pages, #1)
I read this book because one of the authors was Kelley Armstrong and I enjoyed everything else I've read that she wrote. I haven't read too much of Melissa Marr's work, though,  so I wasn't sure how she would affect the story. I thought that this book was kind of similar to the Percy Jackson series (but not the same, Percy Jackson will always be my favorite, nothing compares to him) but it uses Norse mythology instead. Overall, it was a decent story, a little different from what I normally read, but that's to be expected since it's supposed to be a middle grade book. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

The Crucible
This was another book that was read for English. It wasn't as bad as some of the other books I've had to read for English before and I enjoyed reading some of the parts in this book. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

False Memory (False Memory, #1)
It was a decent book. the characters were ok, and the plot was kind of cool. But, it didn't really draw me in like many other books have, so I may or may not continue this series. Rating 3 out of 5 stars.

Every Other Day
Kali is a normal human girl, but every other day she turns into this demon hunting creature. It's kind of hard to explain this book, so I'll just put a link to goodreads. I thought it was amazing! Such an interesting twist and the history involved was so cool! I was excepting something entirely different than what I read, but I'm not disappointed at all. I would definitely recommend this book!Rating 5 out of 5 stars!!!  https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11750412-every-other-day

Dark Companion
It was a decent book. I was somewhat annoyed at some of the choices Jane was making at first, but at the same time it was also part of what kept me reading. I liked most of the characters and the plot was decent, but I still have some questions that I feel weren't answered and the ending left me a bit confused about some parts. I don't think there's a sequel but if there was there's a good chance that I'd read it for the questions that I'd like answered and the characters I liked. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

What's Left of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles, #1)
In this world everyone is born with two personalities in the same body, so everyone has two names when they're born. Overtime, one of the personalities grows weaker than the other until eventually there's just one personality in the body. Sometimes the second personality doesn't go away, and when this happens they're sent off to a place where they can try to fix this. The main character expereinces this, so there's technically two main characters, Eva and Addie. This book was really good! Addie irritated me sometimes and I have a lot of questions about this world that I hope are answered in the next book. I can't wait to read the second book, hopefully it's as good as the first! Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

As I Wake
This book was pretty good. I have some questions that weren't answered and the ending was a little confusing, but the story was interesting . There were also some parts where it seemed like words were missing and that kind of bothered me. I don't know how to explain this book really, so I'll put a link to the description. Overall though it was a decent book. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

The Fault in Our Stars
I now understand what people are taking about when they say they have a love-hate relationship with John Green books, but still this book was great and I loved it. I loved the characters and it was well written. I thought it was funny and sad and a bunch of other emotions, it even made me cry a bit. I would definitely recommend this book. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus, #4)
I will always recommend people read these books, they're absolutely amazing. So, if you haven't read them definitely go read them, the Lightning Thief is the first one.Another amazing book to add to the series! One part was shocking but I feel like I should have seen it coming sooner than I did, but then again it never really crossed my mind as a possibility until I read that chapter.  I loved how he wrote Tartarus and the part with Nyx was really cool. I also loved some of the characters and monsters we read about in the PJO series being brought back. I can't wait to read the next one, but since it will be the last one part of me does want to wait, unless he adds another part to the series. The House of Hades gets 5 stars!

 Paper Towns
It was a good book. It wasn't amazing like some others that I've read but it was unique and funny, but I feel like it was a bit anticlimatic. It had all this build up to this one moment and then it just wasn't anything like what I was expecting. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

 Spark (Elemental, #2)
This is the sequel to Storm. This book was pretty good. It was interesting to read from two new points of view and I found myself liking Gabriel a lot more than I did in the first book. I can't wait to read the next one but I'll be sad to not be reading from Gabriel and Layne's POV. Hopefully I'll enjoy the next book as much as I did this one. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars!

Quicksilver (Ultraviolet, #2)
This is the sequel to Ultraviolet by R. J. Anderson, which is a very good book and you need to read that one before you read this one. This book was pretty good. It was a little weird at first reading from Tori/Niki's POV but I came to like her character and I liked learning more about her. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

This book was a bit frustrating at first. When I reached the second part of the book that was when I started to enjoy the story and I also started to like Elisa a lot more in this part of the book. I don't know if I'll continue this series, but if I do I hope the second book is better than than the first. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars. Star Cursed (The Cahill Witch Chronicles, #2)
This book is the sequel to Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood. It was a pretty good book, Maura frustrated me more in this book and that ending!! I can't wait to see what happens to Cate in the next book. Rating 4 out of 5 stars. Description of Born Wicked: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11715276-born-wicked
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
This is another book that I had to read for English. It wasn't a bad book, but if I didn't read it for English I probably never would've read it. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

Spirit (Elemental, #3)
This is the third book in the Elemental series. This was a good book, Hunter isn't my favorite character, but I definitely like him a lot better than I did before I read this book. The ending of the book surprised me, I never expected the author to do that, I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I can't wait to read the next one though. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

 Origin (Lux, #4)
I need the next book now! How will she wrap up this story? It seems like too much to fit in one book. It was really interesting learning more about the luxen and Daedalus, and I hope to learn more in the last book. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!
The first book is called Obsidian:  https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12578077-obsidian

Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin, #2)
This is the sequel to Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers. This series is set in the 1500s I think, and is about these girls that are trained to be assassins. Each book is a different girl's point of view, an reading from Sybella's point of view was kind of weird at first, but I got used to it and really enjoyed learning more about her character. Her family is so messed up! I was shocked at some of the stuff I read, but this was a great book! Rating:4 out of 5 stars!

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1)
I saw many good reviews about this book and I glad to say that this book was really good, but I'm a bit confused and I'm not totally sure what's happening to Mara or Noah. I hope there's more information in the next book because reading this made me feel like I was going crazy with her. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
