Top Ten Tuesday - Books That Take Place In Another Country

Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish-meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and each week she assigns a new topic. This week the topic is books that take place in another country.

This wasn't an easy list to make. I had trouble finding books that I had read that took place in another country (unless you count fantasy worlds!), so I had to put a few on here from my TBR and look for a couple that I hadn't heard of before. Doing this list makes me realize that I need to read more books that take place outside the US.

England

Wales

Scotland

France

 Canada

The Lizzie Bennett Diaries and Other Youtube Book Adaptations

Over the last few years I've really gotten into these YouTube adaptations of books. The majority of the ones I've found and watched take a classic novel and bring the story to life in a modern setting. The Lizzie Bennett Diaries was the first one that I watched, and I loved it! The series is based on the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. They posted video each week and had the characters on Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook, and combined it really helped bring the story to life. In fact, it felt so real that sometimes I forgot for a moment that what I was watching wasn't real. They are currently re-releasing each video on Facebook in honor of the series 5 year anniversary.

Some of my other favorite YouTube book Adaptations are:
  •  Emma Approved (based on Emma by Jane Austen)
  • Anne With An E (based on Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery)
  • Jane Eyre (based on Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte)
  • The March Family Letters (based on Little Women by Louisa May Alcott)
I really recommend these ones, but there are many others on YouTube that are just as good. I can't wait to watch more of them!
